Thanks!

November 16, 2008

I appreciate the compliments I’ve received about the site, but the thanks should go to everyone at Elendor who roleplays and posts to the BBs. It’s nice to see some activity in the area.

If you see a note up here about roleplay you were involved in, and you know the log is posted on the web, please leave a comment on the appropriate message, and I’ll provide a link.

Setting up

November 7, 2008

Thanks to those fine folks who’ve already visited the blog. Comments on anything of interest would be interesting to read. The posting should slow down slightly pretty soon… I’ve just been trying to get some of the Best-BB/RP posts, from Elendor, which may be important to keep around, up on the site.

A query

I was just wondering to myself, what does BEST stand for in this new cultural grouping? B=Bree E=Ered-luin S=Shire… what does the T stand for with regards to Mithlond? Also what was the basis for Nano as the greeters board/com and minion for the LA board/com. Maybe I am being dense but maybe we should have a cultural competition to come up with more relevant names for all our new boards and coms?

P.S. The Mithlond Admin com is <havens>

T = Tower Hills. :)

Nano is for the little nano-things that go about an organism and keep things working. I confess to picking that one, because I thought it was fun. I’ve asked Rina about a competition.

Thanks, GL -

Festival? and Opinions on Boosting Activity Levels

November 7, 2008

FROM: Boldibad – Sun Nov 02 17:28:04 2008
SUBJECT: Festival? and Opinions on Boosting Activity Levels
TO: (Best-bb)
MESSAGE: ———————————————————————
I have found my way to some rumors that the Luinites are heading east with some trade goods. I propose we have a big Shire-Bree festival (I think the Luinites will be gone for a while) to make use of some of the goods that are bought. This would be a great way to bring in the new era of activity everyone’s hoping for!
I think we need to have regular, interesting events (with thought-provoking TPs connected to them) to anchor more peoples’ desire to connect and RP here. Look at Gondor–they seem to have some decent activity. I suspect it’s because people feel like something is going on in their IC lives that they want to work with and develop.
So, if most of the current active players regularly get RP going and everyone gets involved in a TP of some kind (even if it’s just a group of 3 or 4 people RPing with each other every couple of days), I believe it will form something like a glue that will catch more and more people as they check out the cultures in Eriador.
That being said, I would personally find it fun to get some more plots going between all the cultures in the region (ones that fit into the theme of the game). I think it would be easiest for Bree and Shire to interact, ICly, more often. But, I think even our local elves can find some way to become more involved with everyone else.
Thanks for reading my opinions!

New boards and coms reminder

November 7, 2008

TO: (Best-bb)

Hey folks,

Now that we’ve made the change, here’s a quick summary of our new bboard/com system.

Culture Bree Ered-Luin Mithlond Shire

Main board ——————-Best-bb—————–
RP board ——————-Best-rp—————–
Greeters board ——————-Nano-bb—————–
LAs board ——————-Minion-bb—————

Main local com <bree> <luin> <mithlond> <shirefolk>
Cross-culture com ——————-<best>——————-
Local LAs com <bad> <lula> <mithadmin> <sla>
Cross-culture LAs com——————<minion>—————–
Greeters com ——————-<nano>——————-

Clear as mud, eh?

With all the joint boards, it’s easy for specific culture stuff to get buried. So, to make things clearer, if you’re posting something for a specific culture please could you put the culture name in uppercase at the start of the post title? Or if it’s for all cultures, put ‘ALL: …’

Hey guys! I know I have lots of little plot things I started and haven’t finished. I’ve been around, but minimal RP. That’s because my work load got unexpectedly tripled the last couple of weeks. I’m almost over the hump and will be back to my normal obsessive RP ways next week. Here’s the stuff I have if anyone wants to RP:

Keldean is back in Bree. I don’t have much going on with him but would love to get him involved. Rumor has it he spent all winter with the elves!
Brenden Ferny is going to be running for mayor. I’d love to do RP with him sharing his opinions on Torebras. :)
Bandits! Hatman and Scarface are still around! Be a victim! Hunt them down! I’ll be game for anything.

Be sure to check my alts too (sometimes I’m not on multiple connections), Ranol and Cecilia. The odds are I’ll be willing to switch over.

Our First Change!

It’s not a very major one, but should make life simpler for us all, as well as help us interact with each other – and better still, find opportunities for more RP!

We’re going to be making some changes to the culture coms and boards. I’m afraid I can’t really give you any ideas about when these changes will take place; Rina has +mailed Sauron, but as I’m sure you all know, he’s pretty busy.
That being said, here’s how things will look eventually:

We’re going to leave all culture coms the same: <bree>, <mithlond>, <shirefolk>, and <luin> will all stay. The same is true of the current LA coms: <sla>, <bad>, <lula> and <mithadmin>. We will be adding a Group com, named <best> (because we are!) and a Group LA com, named <minion>. We will be combining all the current greeter coms into one, which will be called <nano>.

For the boards, there’s a little more changing going on. All RP boards will be combined into one: Best-RP. Please continue to post about your RP – the only difference is that everyone in our four cultures will be able to keep tabs on what’s happening in any given location. It might be helpful if you somehow put the culture in the subject – if you are RPing in Bree, for instance, you could possibly title your post: Bree Chaos! (Or whatever.)
The same thing will be happening to each culture, LA and +greeter board. They will each be combined into one Group-Wide board. So we will have: Instead of breeboard, shire, luin and mithlond: Best-bb. Instead of bug, glue and shirehelpers: Nano-bb. And instead of bad-bb, sla-bb, and luin-la: Minion-bb.

I hope that is clear – but if you have any questions, please pester Rina or I. :) For the time being, until Sauron has a chance to get to this; continue on as normal.

For Mithlond, the Shire, Bree, and Ered-Luin!

November 4, 2008

This blog is dedicated to Eriador, a region of Middle-Earth, recreated in the roleplaying game, Elendor MUSH. As we say in Eriador–it’s the B.E.S.T. region in the game!

I’ll post anything that might be of interest to members of the 4 cultures that make up Eriador, or anyone else interested in J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, etc. If you have something to contribute, please feel free to do so!
